January 6 – German football clubs VfB Stuttgart and Hannover 96 have extended their technical sponsorship deals with sports apparel makers Puma and Jako, respectively.
The two sides, which compete in the 1. Bundesliga, both renewed their partnerships with the German sports kit firms under long-term deals. As part of the latest contract, Jako will supply kits to Hannover 96 until the end of the 2018/2019 season.
Martin Kind, the president of Hannover 96, said that “the extension of the contract with Jako provides [the club] with a predictable, secure planning perspective.”
Hannover 96 and Jako signed their first technical sponsorship deal ahead of the 2011/2012 season. The amount of the latest contract was not disclosed by the parties.
For VfB Stuttgart, the total length of the extended deal was not disclosed, but it is reportedly “long-term”, according to reports in the local media. The Stuttgart-based side has been cooperating with Puma since 2002, when the brand replaced rival German firm Adidas. Puma’s previous contract with VfB Stuttgart was estimated to be worth €3 million per year, according to the information obtained by German daily Bild.
In addition to VfB Stuttgart, other German football clubs sponsored by Puma include Borussia Dortmund and Fortuna Düsseldorf.
