January 16 – FC Schalke 04 have agreed a partnership with South Korean tyre manufacturer Kumho Tyres until the end of the season 2016/2017 including an option for further cooperation.
As a sponsoring partner Kumho will receive a large presence in stadium advertising in the Veltins-Arena, hospitality quotas and an extensive involvement in the Club’s medai activities including website, social media and Schalke TV.
Yong-Sung Kim, Managing Director Kumho Tire Europe, explained the motivation for the sponsorship saying: “We are delighted to enter into a longstanding partnership with FC Schalke 04 as the club stands for reliability, for purpose and for international prestige. These are decisive criteria in our partnerships in sport.”
Alexander Jobst, Chief Marketing Officer of Schalke looked forward to the cooperation saying: “With Kumho Tyre as one of the leading tire manufacturers in the world, we sign a partnership which confirms that FC Schalke 04 has won enormous popularity internationally in recent years.”
The Kumho Tire Company, headquartered in Seoul was founded in 1960 and is now among the world’s leading tyre manufacturers, with annual sales of over with over €3 billion. The company is part of Kumho Asiana Group, which also includes Asiana Airlines.
The company has manufacturing facilities in Korea, China and Vietnam and also operates research and development centers in Korea, China, Europe and North America. Clients include Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Mini, Volkswagen as well as Hyundai and Kia.
Kumho became a Platinum Partner of Manchester United in 2007 and also sponsors Hamburger SV and Rapid Vienna as well as being one of the sponsors of La Liga.
