January 21 – Beach Soccer fever is building across the CONCACAF region. With a record number of 16 nations heading to El Salvador for the regional championship in March and a Beach Soccer World Cup qualification place at stake, the confederation has unveiled its tournament logo and announced January 27 as the date for the draw.
CONCACAF has invested in building its Beach Soccer presence across the region with a number of development initiatives in member association countries designed to build coaching and playing capability.
Mexico and the US have traditionally been strong Beach Soccer nations on the world stage, both having played at multiple World Cups. With the Bahamas hosting the 2017 edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, the momentum is now to bring more competitive nations into the international game.
The 2015 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship will be played March 28 – April 4 in El Salvador, the draw taking place next week. At stake at the finals is one of CONCACAF’s two places at the Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015.
The teams in the draw include host El Salvador, as well as Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Costa Rica, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, United States, and the US Virgin Islands.
