February 6 – Manchester United has added Mauritius telecom specialist Emtel as its first official partner in the country.
The multi-year deal will see Emtel become the club’s Official Triple Play and MUTV broadcaster in the country, streaming Manchester United content across TV, mobile and internet platforms in conjunction with CANAL+ and CANALSAT.
Emtel, established in 1989, was the first mobile network operator in the Southern Hemisphere and is now the club’s first official partner in the region, and an important one in terms of pushing Man Utd branded content to a wider base of fans.
Manchester United’s Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold said: “We are very proud to be adding such an established and innovative company to our family of commercial sponsors…Our partnership will not only bring our fans in Mauritius new and exclusive content but it will also be delivered in unique and exciting ways.”
Emtel’s CEO Shyam Roy said: “Emtel is ready to deliver an incredible sports experience over its quality 4G/LTE and 3G networks through smart devices and through its associated TV broadcasting operations, to fulfil the diverse lifestyles of its subscribers.”
