February 24 – Russian stadium and infrastructure build for the 2018 World Cup reported good news with information that the preparation work required for the Yekaterinburg stadium was proceeding ahead of schedule.
The existing Central Stadium on the site has to be first dismantled before work can begin in earnest in the new arena, So far all seats have been removed and southern and the north grandstands are currently being taken down. The east and west stands will only be partially deconstructed.
The centrally controlled Russian construction authority is currently reviewing project documents for approval, expected in June, but may be asked to speed up that process if the current progress keep up the same pace. The stadium is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2017.
