March 19 – The beleaguered president of Bulgaria’s CSKA Sofia, Alexander Tomov, has said he is now in negotiation with companies from Western Europe as Bulgarian firms can’t afford the price of a major club sponsorship.

Tomov, who is also the main shareholder of the club, said he had so far been in talks with more than ten Bulgarian companies, but none of them can commit to a sponsorship because of the economic crisis in Bulgaria.

Tomov has priced the main club sponsorship at €1 million per year.

“We are in advanced negotiations with a western European concern for the general sponsor of the club. The logo of the new general sponsor will appear on the shirts of the team. We already held talks with more than ten Bulgarian companies, but they can not afford to pay €1 million per year,” said Tomov.

He added that currently most sponosrhsip money in the club come from sports betting company Efbet.

Tomov also said that this May the club will put 3 million shares on sale. The club last year attempted a public share offering which failed dues to a lack of investor take-up.
