March 25 – Bulgaria’s most famous football club, CSKA Sofia, is set for a new ownership! Current majority shareholder Alexander Tomov has announced that negotiations for the transfer of a majority shareholding to the construction entrepreneur Julian Indzhov (pictured left with Tomov) are in full flow.
Indzhov and his team started a financial inspection of the club on Monday, an inspection Indzhov says will determine his decision whether or not to go ahead with his acquisition.
Tomov said that a deal had been already reached in principle.
Indzhov, Tomov and CEO Alexander Todorov held a joint press conference at which Indzhov announced that the main goal for the team was to win the Bulgarian title, and that if this is not achieved, coaching staff will be fired.
The following day head coach Stoycho Mladenov resigned.
“We are heading towards a new majority shareholder. How exactly the shares will be allocated is not clear yet. One thing is clear – whoever gives the most money, he will pull the strings. Everything is clear, everything is signed. At least at our level with Mr. Indzhov things are solid. I will continue to help, but not like now. The main objective is to stabilise the club and finally to pay the old debts,” said Tomov.
“If the figures for the debts that were reported in the public domain are correct, we will get into the management of the club. Theoretically, Tomov will hold a majority stake till March 30 … If he figures, which are quoted by the club management coincide with our checks, we will try to help the club. If there is a difference, I do not know what my decision will be,” said Indzhov.
Indzhov owns the ISA 2000 construction company. The company offers tailor-made solutions in the field of infrastructure, real estate, processing of raw materials as well as the production of construction materials. Its contracts range from consulting, design and financing to turnkey developments, maintenance and operation.
