March 31 – UEFA has renewed its exclusive marketing deal with TEAM Marketing for a further six seasons from the end of the 2014/15 season. It has an option to extend for a further three years if it meets performance criteria.

TEAM will continue as the exclusive agency for the global marketing of the media, sponsorship and licensing rights to the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup.

TEAM was the marketing driving force behind the creation of the Champions League which brought mid-week top level football to primetime television on commercial TV channels across Europe. The new Champions League concept was a watershed moment (commercially and in a sporting context) for club football in Europe from which clubs and UEFA have never looked back.

The company first started working with UEFA in 1992 and as part of its remit only represents UEFA competitions. A focus of TEAM’s activity now is to raise the revenue profile of the Europa Cup. The new deal will take the relationship through to the end of the 2020/21 season with a renewal option that will also include seasons 2021/22 to 2023/24.

Martin Wagner, Delegate of the Board of Directors of TEAM, said: “This Agreement is a result of TEAM’s ongoing, successful performance and it’s single focus on the existing business. TEAM looks forward to the challenging opportunities provided by the highly valued partnership with UEFA and it’s excellent people.”
