April 16 – While their federation presidents were in the Bahamas at the CONCACAF Congress, 15 clubs from nine Caribbean Football Union (CFU) member associations were starting their quest for qualification to the CONCACAF Champions League for the 2015/16 next season.
This is the 17th edition of the CFU’s annual club competition which will qualify three teams to go into the Champions League draw on June 1 in Miami.
Competing in three groups of four teams and one group of three, the group rounds are being hosted in Guyana, Trinidad, and Haiti (two groups).
The top four group winners qualify for the knock-out semi-finals and finals to be played May 22-23.
The competing teams are Alpha United and Guyana Defence Force (Guyana), SAP FC (Antigua and Barbuda), Central FC and Direct TV W Connection FC (Trinidad &Tobago), Inter Moengotapoe and SV Excelsior (Suriname), Waterhouse FC and Montego Bay United FC (Jamaica), Helenites Sporting Club (US Virgin Islands), Club Sportif and Unite Sainte Rose (Guadeloupe), Lyford Cay FC (Bahamas), America FC and Don Bosco FC de Petion Ville (Haiti).
Five teams are making their debuts in the competition: Central FC, America FC, Montego Bay United, SV Excelsior and Lyford Cay FC.
