May 11 – Adidas has extended its deal with Poland’s Ekstraklasa, under which it will remain the official ball supplier of the country’s top tier until the end of the 2016/2017 season.
“We are very pleased with [our] current cooperation with Ekstraklasa, that’s why extending a deal was natural for us,” Artur Czerwonogrodzki, the country manager for Adidas in the Polish market, said in a statement. He added that Adidas hoped that the German brand’s “cooperation with Ekstraklasa will enable both partners to grow and to achieve new, ambitious targets”.
The current agreement, which covers the period between the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 Ekstraklasa season, includes a wide range of joint marketing activities to promote and distribute the ball, which is available in two versions, as the official match ball and a replica.
Boguslaw Biszof, the president of the board of the Ekstraklasa, said that, by the end of 2015, the sales of the Ekstraklasa ball exceeded 100,000 units. Adidas is “one of the biggest producers of sports equipment in the world, who provides footballs for FIFA World Cup or UEFA Champions League. Being part of this group also shows how much Ekstraklasa is worth for this global brand,” said Biszof.
The financial details of the latest contract were not disclosed by the Ekstraklasa.
