May 13 – Tickets for Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard’s last ever home game for the club where he has spent 17 years are being exchanged for a staggering £1,300, such is the legendary status of the former England skipper.
On Tuesday evening the price of seats for the fixture against Crystal Palace on Saturday ranged from £179.01 to £1,258.63 on one ticketing website. The game is officially classed as a category C fixture and adult tickets would normally cost between £37 and £49.
Gerrard, 34, will bring down the curtain on his Liverpool career at the end of the season before moving to LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer. He is scheduled to play his last game away at Stoke on the final Premier League weekend.
Reports are suggesting Gerrard will receive a guard of honour before the match against Palace. A win for Liverpool in their final home game would secure a Europa League spot next season though after finishing runner-up in the Premier League last time that will be scant consolation as they miss out on a Champions League berth.
