Sprint cross line for fifth Gold Cup sponsorship

May 20 – Sprint has renewed its CONCACAF Gold Cup sponsorship as official US wireless provider. This is Sprint’s fifth consecutive Gold Cup, the first being in 2007.

“Sprint has always been a great supporter of international soccer in the Confederation. Sprint has once again proved their interest in helping to bring the international game to fans throughout the region, through this renewed deal,” said CONCACAF General Secretary Enrique Sanz.

The deal was negotiated by CONCACAF commercial agency Traffic Sports.

The Gold Cup is CONCACAF’s premier event and kicks of July 7 with 12 teams: Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago and the US.

13 cities will host matches across the US and Canada. Group stage double headers will be played in Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Toronto. Baltimore and New York/New Jersey will host the quarterfinals, while Atlanta will host to the semifinals on July 22.

The finals and third-place play off take place in Philadelphia on July 25 and 26.
