June 12 – Digicel have announced a new multi-year partnership with Manchester City and New York City FC to create an array of multi-media content for audiences of both football clubs as well as community coaching in many areas across the globe.

The largest communications network across the Caribbean, Central America and the South Pacific will work with the clubs on a range of community initiatives as part of their Digicel Kick Start coaching programme across 15 markets. The top 24 players from these 15 markets will be invited to the training academies of MCFC and NYCFC as well as Australian based Melbourne City FC to show off their skills to the coaches of the three clubs.

On the multi-media front, Digicel will help provide digital and mobile content for the Manchester and New York based clubs as well as providing promotional opportunities and VIP experiences at Yankee Stadium and the Etihad to watch either team in action.

The new partnership will enhance Digicel’s successful Kick Start Programme even more and enable fans of the regions’ most played sport to interact with the above clubs on a greater level.

Omar Berrada, commercial director for City Football Marketing who deal with the commercial partnerships for MCFC and NYCFC said: “We are delighted to welcome Digicel as our very first partner in the Caribbean, Central America and South Pacific Islands. Digicel has invested significantly in growing, developing and marketing football across their regions for several years and we are looking forward to working together to bring exciting promotions and content to football fans across these markets.”

Digicel Group Director of Marketing Operations, Kieran Foley, also commented: “Digicel is delighted to be working with Manchester City and New York City FC, both clubs who enjoy an international following. This marks the next phase in our development marrying content and community programmes across all our markets in the Caribbean, Central America and the South Pacific as well as into our Diaspora communities from afar.

“Knowing we have set the bar high with our previous partnerships from the Barclays Premier League and with the Caribbean Football Union, we are very excited to develop this platform with Manchester City FC and New York City FC, to deliver compelling and exclusive content which our customers can consume in broadcast, digital and mobile channels, exciting experiences and promotions, as well as the unique and greatly enhanced football development programmes that will be on offer through this deal to all aspiring young players across all our markets.”
