July 9 – US mobile phone brand Yezz has extended its deal with Ligue 1’s Girondins de Bordeaux for another two years in a deal negotiated with the support of Infront Sports & Media, it was announced on Wednesday.
Miami-based Yezz, headquartered in Miami, will continue to have its brand on the back of the official jersey of Girondins de Bordeaux during the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons as well as partnering with the Girondins Tour which sees the players hit the beaches of Aquitaine to offer sports activities to the public.
Robert Schiano, Director General of Yezz Europe, said: “After a great collaboration last season, we are proud to continue the adventure with a club as prestigious and popular club as FC Girondins Bordeaux, sharing the same values and commitment. The Yezz brand has confirmed its determination to quickly develop its consumer reputation and become a major player in the mobile phone market.”
Bordeaux achieved sixth place in the French league 1 last season, qualifying for the Europa League and moving into a new 42,000 capacity stadium for the final game.
Fast growing Yezz produces what is advertised as the thinnest Windows Phone in the world, which weighs just 120g and which comes with both headphones and screen protectors as standard. However, Yezz’s biggest commitment is to Google’s module phone development programme – Project Aura – as part of which Yezz is developing 40 modules which will be slotted into a Google-made frame to allow users to build the individually customized phone of their dreams.
The new deal comes as Yezz aims to ramp up its brand recognition in Europe and Africa with the support of Swiss-based sports marketing company, Infront.
