July 15 – Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched an investigation into the accounts of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
Key football officials have been ordered to appear before investigators with account statements and audit reports of the PFF from the period 1/7/2003 to 30/06/2015.
The FIA had summoned President Faisal Saleh Hayat (pictured), secretary Col Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi and finance committee chairman Asif Ali to appear on Monday but none of the trio reportedly appeared, with a PFF spokesman saying they had questioned FIA’s jurisdiction into the case.
The PFF has been riven by internal conflict in recent months with different factions claiming legitimacy.
Recent elections, apparently held despite a court order issuing a stay which was not served on election organisers, saw the re-election of Hayat who claims the support of the Asian Football Confederation and FIFA.
