July 22 – The International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) has signed another agreement with a government body, this time with youth and sport ministers from Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). At the same time preparations for ICSS’s Financial Integrity and Transparency in Sport (FITS) Forum are continuing at speed.

The agreement with CPLP will see the ICSS and CPLP work across several projects aimed at safeguarding the integrity, safety and transparency of sport, as well as protecting young athletes working towards establishing committees in the areas of sport integrity, anti-match-fixing and the protection of minors.

The aim is also to promote the highest ethical standards in sport across all nine Member States in the CPLP region.

The ICSS is one of the first non-governmental institutions to sign with the CPLP, and will work closely with Ministries of Youth and Sport across CPLP Member States, including Portugal and Brazil. Match manipulation, financial corruption and protection of young players (especially in football) are core areas for the co-operation which will also exchange information, knowledge and best practices to protect the integrity of sport.

Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros (pictured left), CEO of ICSS Europe and Latin America’ said: “Home to more than 250 million people across the globe and hosting some of the largest major sporting events over the next few years, CPLP Member States collectively have a powerful voice on the international stage which will provide an important platform to develop a more coordinated international effort to safeguard the integrity of sport and its future.”
