July 27 – Betting company Pari-Match has become the main sponsor of the Ukrainian league championship in a two-year deal which will see the competition renamed as the Pari-Match League. The deal is worth 43 million Ukrainian hryvnia (€1.8 million).
The decision to sponsor the league is a first for Ukrainian football which has been a victim of the conflict with Russia and the Russian separatists having already lost the participation of the Crimean clubs who have now created their own league following the annexation by Russia. Several Ukrainian clubs have been forced to leave their cities and seek safer stadiums for their matches.
For a long time, title sponsorship of championships and tournaments was spurned by Ukrainian football, but obviously difficult the situation has forced the league to change its mind.
Pari-Match was founded in 1996, registered on the island of Curacao. Its accounts go through a Cypriot company. According to media in Ukraine, the focus of the sponsorship is to advertise in European club competitions by Ukrainian teams.
Pari-Match began in 1996 and now has an international gaming network of more than 400 business units with offices operate in Russia, Belarus, Moldova and Georgia.
“As one of the leaders in the CIS in the gambling business, we strive for continuous and proactive improvement of technologies of providing services, increasing the number of daily sporting events, expanding the list of leagues and championships, as well as games and entertainment,” said the company.
