August 18 – The second weekend of the Premier League season saw an average capacity at Premier League grounds of almost 96%, just over 1% down on the opening day of the season, mainly due to lower attendances at Sunderland.
Of 365,000 tickets available for the weekend’s 10 home games, 15,822 seats were unfilled, 7, 621 of them at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. In comparison just over 6,000 seats were unsold on opening weekend.
Six of the ten home teams sold over 95% of their stadiums with efficiency greatest at Spurs, Swansea and West Ham who sold over 99% of their capacity.
Man City put in a powerful performance with its new and improved South Stand, which expanded the Etihad Stadium by 7,750 seats and saw it grow from about 47,000. Just 761 seats were unfilled in the expanded 55,097 capacity stadium.

The figures do not account for no-shows – tickets that were sold but the holders did not turn up. Stadium capacities may vary slightly due to safety, media and crowd control requirements, or due to stadium improvements.
