August 19 – FC Cherno More Varna, holder of the Bulgarian Cup and Supercup, has been handed a development grant of BGN 1 million (€500,000) from the state. The money will be used by club to improve the grass pitch at Ticha stadium and stadium lighting.
This aid money was announced by the Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, on a visit to Varna.
“We would not build a completely new stadium, but will finance the renovation of Ticha stadium. The state helps the football clubs to improve their facilities. Krassen Kralev, the sports minister of Bulgaria and the finance minister talked to me to change the grass and lighting of the stadium. The revenues of the state budget allow us to release this amount of money,” said Borisov.
The funds will be disbursed by the end of the year, but is still not clear when the renovation of the stadium in Varna will begin.
Earlier this year the Bulgarian state helped league champions Ludogorets to build a new level at their Ludogorets Arena.
