August 21 – The Financial Integrity and Transparency in Sport (FITS) Forum being held in Geneva on 3-4 September has announced more speakers to its already heavyweight line-up.
With US law makers and enforcers already set to have a prominent billing, the organisers have also released details of international federations and sport governing bodies who will be on hand to address crucial issues facing the good governance and sustained development of sport.
Speakers from football’s two dominant governing bodies – FIFA and UEFA – will be joined by representative from World Rugby, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro). The International Olympic Committee, ASOIF, the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) are also scheduled to attend.
More than 40 speakers are now lined up for the event which will also feature several of the world’s major football leagues including the Spanish Football League, England’s Premier League and the English and Swiss Football Leagues, alongside the Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) and the European Club Association (ECA).
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, CEO of ICSS Europe and Latin America, said: “Sporting organisations and governing bodies are absolutely essential in the fight for effective financial integrity and transparency in sport. In the face of massive commercial and financial growth and the significant economic, cultural and social impact sport now wields, these custodians must act now in order to preserve the integrity of sport and safeguard its future development.
“The FITS FORUM is shaping up to be a truly pioneering event and will be a significant stepping stone to achieve the objectives of the wider FITS Global Project. With the results of the project due to be announced in early 2016, the FITS Global Project will, for the first time, provide a holistic, fact-based analysis on the existing issues facing sport, as well as outlining globally-recognised standards for sport, governments and other key stakeholders to implement. This FORUM will provide a crucial platform to uniting key stakeholders from the sports industry and realising the vision set out as part of the FITS Global Project.”
