September 4 – Ronaldo or Messi, one of the big questions of our time, is being voted on in London by commuters using their cigarette butts.
London-based environmental charity Hubbub have launched a new quirky way of getting smokers to dispose of their cigarette butts in a safe but interesting manner.
Special bins in which smokers can dispatch their cigarettes whilst voting for who their favourite football player have been placed outside Embankment tube station in the heart of London with the question on the bin asking who the best player in the world is with the options being either Ronaldo or Messi.
From studying the results, it seems like there are lots of Manchester United and Real Madrid fans in London at the moment as Ronaldo is comfortably ahead of his Barcelona rival.
Since launch a few weeks ago, previous questions have included: who was going to win the London derby between Crystal Palace and Arsenal as well as asking who would win the final Ashes test in the cricket at the Oval.
The inventors of the special bin have said that they will ask a different question every week with the hope that their contraption will help clean up London.
We wonder whether the clean-up of London could help with the progression towards transparency and clean-up of football. We suggest future questions for Londoners to vote on could include Platini or Chung, age limits for officials or not, USA or China for World Cup 2026, and perhaps even to tea or coffee at exco meetings.
