September 15 – Premier League club Liverpool have expanded their soccer development coaching programme to the United Arab Emirates with the launch of an International Academy.
Initially focusing on schools in Dubai and aimed at children aged 7-15, the full time coaching programme will deliver ongoing player development training sessions for young players to learn to play ‘The Liverpool Way’.
Players will have the opportunity to improve their football skills and develop in the technical, tactical, physical and social aspects of the game through age-specific coaching sessions.
There will also be a focus on improving key life skills including teamwork, confidence, motivation and communication. The programme begins in October.
The club is partnering with PESCO, a Dubai-based sports and events management company that organises coaching clinics and events in number of sports across the UAE.
Nisal Mohammed, the programme director from PESCO, said: “We are thrilled to have partnered with Liverpool FC to bring the very best coaching programmes to the young players in the UAE. We are now in the process of shortlisting schools based on the interest shown by them. The coaches will be here this month and we will commence our program from October.
“We are also hugely excited by the opportunity to deliver the Club’s coaching philosophy and practices with the help of the experienced Liverpool FC coaches who will be working on this project. There’s huge potential for an initiative like this in the UAE and we can’t wait to get started.”
