September 16 – With the Men’s competition already well into the Second Stages at the Homeless World Cup in Amsterdam, the second of three Homeless World Cup women’s team stages starts on today. You can watch the matches live and free at http://bit.ly/1USI6J7
In this stage, the competition is divided into two sections, with the top-performing teams grouped in Section One and the lower-performing teams proceeding to Section Two of the Second Stage.
This forms four new groups, and within these groups each team plays each other once.
The teams in Section One compete for the Homeless World Cup in the trophy stage. Teams in Section Two compete for the Women’s Plate.
Being played in the heart of Amsterdam’s cultural centre, the Museumplein (home to three major museums – the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum – and the concert hall Concertgebouw), the men’s and women’s tournaments tournaments feature 72 national teams.
Played across three pitches – lined with state-of-the-art synthetic turf courtesy of Act Global – broadcast from the tournament are of the show pitch.
Play begins at 11am GMT each day and goes through to 7pm. The finals on Saturday September 19 will be played at 5.45pm.
The event is free to watch and there is an option for donation which goes straight to supporting their foundation and cause. The donation mechanism is set up inside the video player and is voluntary.
