Man Utd get ahead in the fashion game with New Era global deal

October 13 – While neighbours Liverpool have hired a manager (Jurgen Klopp) who has a penchant for wearing a baseball hat, Manchester United have gone a more pragmatic step towards conquering the baseball hat world by concluding a sponsorship deal the king of the baseball hat suppliers, New Era.

The multi-year deal New Era, described as an international lifestyle brand, will see New Era produce dual-branded leisure headwear aimed at Man Utd’s global fanbase.

New Era is the first Official Leisure Headwear Partner of Manchester United.

The US company was established in 1930 and is best known for being the on-field cap for Major League Baseball, an position it has held for 81 years.

New Era’s flagship product is the 59FIFTY fitted cap. The Man Utd product range will include different headwear styles, including caps, baseball caps, visors, hats, bobble hats and beanies.

Manchester United Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold, said: “Throughout history, our supporters have pledged their allegiance to United by wearing the Club crest and we are delighted to be partnering with New Era to bring fans a fresh approach to the branded headwear available to them.

Christopher H. Koch, President and CEO of New Era, emphasised the worldwide nature of the deal, saying: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Manchester United on a global level. As New Era continues to expand its international reach, growing our business in world football was a natural progression. A partnership with such a globally revered club is a great opportunity for us to bring quality headwear to the football market.”
