UEFA delivers La Poste to Euro2016 sponsor roster

La Poste and Euro 2016

November 23 – UEFA have announced France’s national postal service La Poste as the official operator for postal, parcel and express delivery services for UEFA EURO 2016.

After the torch relay for the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville and the 1998 FIFA World Cup La Poste will be a key partner for UEFA in the run-up to EURO2016 and during the tournament itself. La Poste will exclusively deliver the 2.5 million tickets worldwide via French offices, the DPD express delivery network in Europe and the Chronopost express delivery network for the rest of the world.

La Poste promised that the transport for ticket delivery will be carbon neutral, in accordance with the commitments it made in 2012 to offset all the carbon emissions of its postal, parcel, express delivery and online services.

In addition, La Post will issue a series of EURO2016 stamps. The first series will feature the ten host cities and will be released on December 12, the day Paris will host the final draw for the tournament.

“La Poste and its employees are very attached to the values of sport and have always helped to make the major sports events that have taken place in France a wonderful occasion,” said La Poste’s president and chief executive officer Philippe Wahl. “La Poste is proud to have been chosen by UEFA as the official operator for postal, parcel and express delivery services for UEFA EURO 2016 and will mobilize its entire logistics network and the full know-how of its employees.”

The deal follows UEFA’s confirmation that France will host EURO2016 despite the recent terrorist atrocities in the French capital and a state of emergency in the country. The move shows UEFA’s renewed commitment to ensure its flagship tournament will take place as planned. The governing body has also indicated that Paris will host the final draw for the tournament in December. EURO2016 will be played from the June 10 to July 10 next year in a newly expanded format with 24 participating countries.
