November 26 – French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille have partnered with video messaging application Snapchat in a bid to up their social media presence.
The club have launched their own account on Snapchat, entitled ‘CoulissesOM,’ which will provide Snapchat users with exclusive access to photo and video content, including behind-the-scenes footage from training, matches and travel to away games. Marseille will announce Snapchat content via Twitter.
Marseille’s Snapchat account will have an interactive element as fans will also be able to submit their own content, which will be picked up and shared by the club’s Twitter account.
The club have 1.6 million Twitter followers and 4.4 million Facebook followers, but want to boost their social media profile and strengthen ties with their fans.
The deal comes days after Spanish giants Real Madrid announced a partnership with Snapchat to share club content. In the US the National Football League (NFL) also has a partnership with the social media platform.
Olympique will play Groningen tonight in a UEFA Europa League fixture at the Stade Vélodrome. In Ligue 1 Marseille linger in mid table with 18 points after 14 match days. At the weekend they host AS Monaco in a local derby.
