January 26 – Amidst burgeoning scandals in both football and athletics, the role of the International Centre for Sport Security in combating the scourge of corruption has been given further recognition by the Commonwealth Games Federation in order to enhance good governance across its various sports.
The two parties signed a far-reaching cooperation agreement at London’s House of Commons on Monday to promote transparency and integrity as the ICSS looks to develop a global multi-stakeholder alliance.
As part of the collaboration and in line with its commitment to support organisations across all sectors, ICSS EUROPE will independently audit the CGF’s governance model and assist with the development of a code of conduct on sports betting and integrity.
“Today’s announcement amplifies our responsibility and commitment to use Commonwealth sport to build peaceful, sustainable and prosperous communities globally,” said David Grevemberg (pictured centre), chief executive of the CGF.
Mohammed Hanzab (pictured left), Founder and President of the ICSS, commented: “The mounting and complex challenges to the integrity of sport are more apparent than ever. We remain determined to work with key organisations across all sectors, including governments and sports bodies, to stand up to the growing threats that sport now faces.
