March 31 – Milan’s Serie A giant, Internazionale, has today launched the Inter Channel on smart phones and tablets into the Indonesian market. Indosat is the second biggest mobile phone operator in Indonesia with 70 million customers.
The channel will be broadcast in English with Indonesian subtitles and will be a mix of interviews, press conferences, exclusive training-ground footage, archive footage, and live updates from Inter Channel reporters.
The channel will provide four daily updates, seven days a week.
Indosat announced their deal with Inter last year when they also became the official telecoms partner of Arsenal and Barcelona in Indonesia.
Internazionale also has a deal with Le Sports, the former LeTV, who is the exclusive broadcast partner for the club’s TV channel in mainland China. That two-year agreement covers all platforms, including website and mobile.
Owned by Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir since 2013, Inter has been steadily been building its fan base in the country.
Last month Inter confirmed a new five-year extension to their 20-year sponsorship agreement with Pirelli – estimated to be worth a minimum of €10 million a season with a large bonus clause for the Milan club based on results, potentially doubling in the event Inter win the Champions League in the next five years.
In announcing the deal, Pirelli said that the growth of Inter’s global following was an important factor in the extension.
