April 8 – News from the Chinese football market is generally about big money acquisition of football assets outside the country, or the import of what look like very expensive international players. But there are signs that the domestic football marketing opportunity is not being lost with Super League clubs who are usually owned by one funding sponsor or business conglomerate.
China CITIC Bank and Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan FC have launched a new co-branded bank card in Beijing – China CITIC Bank and Beijing Guoan FC are owned by CITIC Group.
The branded card market is one of the most active and fast developing sports marketing areas worldwide with a number of specialist operators who build affinity and loyalty programmes around the card and bank offering.
The new Beijing Guoan card targets CITIC’s standard IC card and platinum card as the principle carriers. The cards feature Beijing Guoan’s logo and come with a range of card-associated benefits and are being marketed to Beijing Guoan supporters.
One promotional campaign throughout the 2016 CSL season will see 500 cardholders win free tickets to Beijing Guoan’s home games at The Worker’s Stadium.
Zhu Jialin, vice president at China CITIC Bank, said: “CITIC Bank and Beijing Guoan FC are the two shining stars that CITIC Group owns. They are traditional giants in their respective areas.
“We feel confident starting this comprehensive and mutually beneficial co-operation with the campaign to launch co-branded bank cards with Beijing Guoan.”
