April 28 – UEFA has launched an online transport services partnership with the digital platform Fanzone, designed to facilitate new transportation networks for fans at Euro 2016 tournament.
The online social platform allows fans to interact and plan journeys together through services hosted by Fanzone. It is hoped the platform will help fans to cut costs while perhaps also creating new social relationships through car- and taxi-sharing.
Fanzone will also provide information on public transport or Park & Ride routes while making available a facility for fans to calculate their carbon footprint by estimating their emissions via the UEFA Euro 2016 app.
Fanzone’s technology has previously been used at a Bon Jovi concert where it said 60% of ticketholders downloaded the app. Ori Shilo, Fanzone’s co-founder and chief executive, said: “Our platform will make the travelling and moving-around experience easier and more enjoyable [providing] online transport solutions and a great journey experience to fans coming to France from all over the world.”
UEFA’s director of marketing, Guy-Laurent Epstein, added: “We are very happy to have Fanzone as our online transport and traveling community solution, and I’m sure it will help the millions of traveling fans, to get around in an easier and friendly manner.”
