UEFA People opens doors to behind-the-scenes workers at Euro 2016

May 25 – UEFA has joined with recruitment specialists GlobalSportsJobs with the aim of generating interest in working at major events and identifying talent for future events up to Euro 2020 which will be hosted in 13 venues across the continent.

GlobalSportsJobs has created a microsite that showcases the numerous roles and skills required to put on a major event. It’s objective is to explain to professionals the importance of transferable skills across different industries and sectors, and encourages them to get involved via competitions to win a range of prizes, including PS4s, Sony Boomboxes and an ‘on-the-job’ experience at the EURO tournament. The first competition runs for three days from Thursday 26 May.

Titled ‘UEFA People’, the site will have daily content direct from the Euro 2016 giving an unprecedented look behind the scenes, including personalised “day in the life” and “my role” features, inspirational videos and infographics, and never-before-seen footage, articles and statistics based around the people working at the tournament and at UEFA.

Will Lloyd, CEO of GlobalSportsJobs, said: “The UEFA People microsite comes right from the heart of EURO. It will allow professionals interested in developing a career in sport to understand and see how a major tournament works, and how to be part of it. We are certain that this campaign will open the eyes of those looking to combine their qualifications and experience with their interest in sport, and will see why UEFA is seen as a leading organisation to deliver this.”

UEFA emphasised the uniqueness of the project and its intention to show people what working on a major event is really like. Jason Evans, Senior HR Manager at UEFA, said: “This project will set the foundation for our talent acquisition strategy which will evolve further as we lead up to UEFA EURO 2020 which will be across 13 countries, so with their help we can reach talent in all of these countries.”

UEFA People microsite can be viewed at www.globalsportsjobsuefa.com in English. There is also www.globalsportsjobsuefafr.com for French speakers and www.globalsportsjobsuefade.com for German speakers.
