November 28 – Patrons wishing to hire a private suite for next year’s Confederations Cup final in Saint Petersburg face prices of up to almost $50,000 under packages being advertised by Match Hospitality, exclusive rights-holder of FIFA’s hospitality programme at the eight-team competition.
The top-of-the-market $49,500 price tag is for the biggest – 22-seat – suites at the brand new Saint Petersburg Stadium for the final on July 2. The places therefore work out at $2,250 each. A clutch of smaller eight-seat suites are priced at $22,000, equivalent to $2,750 a seat.
Vitaly Mutko, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, has stated that the Saint Petersburg venue will be commissioned next month, with a test event arranged “hopefully in March or April”.
The draw for the tournament, which itself acts as a warm-up event for the 2018 World Cup, was made in Kazan on Saturday. It pits World Cup hosts Russia and holders Germany against the respective champions of the six regional football confederations.
Among stand-out fixtures in the two groups will be Russia versus Cristiano Ronaldo’s European champions Portugal in Moscow on June 21 and Germany against South American champions Chile in Kazan the following day.
Suite prices for the competition’s opening match, pitting Russia against New Zealand, also in Saint Petersburg, on June 17, range from $13,200 for an eight-seater to $29,700 for one of the 22-seater facilities.
For Germany against Chile, two small six-seater suites are a comparative snip at $6,600, while the Kazan Arena’s two 24-seat suites are priced at $31,200 each.
Individual ‘Business Seats’ for the opening match may be purchased for $1,200, and for the final for $2,000.
