May 24 – The Chinese FA has upgraded its partnership with insurance firm Ping An in a new four-year deal that will see the firm became the main sponsor of the Chinese Super League (CSL) as well as the official financial sponsor of the national team.
The CSL deal will see the Ping An brand across all CSL media space and give the company access to exclusive content and various benefits it can pass on to fans.
The deal, including the CFA sponsorship is worth $14.5 million. Ping An will also provide insurance to the Chinese team giving the players and the CAF greater cover in the case of injury.
“Since PING AN became the first official partner in the financial field of the CFA China Team, the two sides have been in a close relationship. This transformation from partner to sponsor will provide more support to the CFA,” said a CFA executive.
A Ping An statement on its website said: “Ping An will be Chinese Football Association Super League (CSL)’s title sponsor for 4 years. Ping An Football bridges finance and football, providing fans with football news, fan benefits, special offers by title sponsor, etc.”
Ping An’s ‘Football Super-fan’promotion offers events, parties, and gatherings for football fans and develops online and offline platforms allowing fans to interact with stars and participate in events. Ping An says about 100,000 people have so far taken part in events including: “Crowd-funding event “TIFO” in Bhutan (June), Free Kick Game for Fans in Nanjing (July), Parent-Child Football Campus in Guangzhou (August), Football Lovers Event in Shanghai (September), Family Football Game in Tianjin (October) and CSL Vote & Free Tickets for World Cup Qualifiers (November).”
