July 5 – Sports law association Rex Sport has joined with the CEU Cardinal Herrera University in Valencia, Spain, to launch an Online Master in International Sports Law.
Cardinal Herrera University is part of the CEU Foundation and was the first private school of Law founded in Valencia. The course will be titled the’ Rex Sport-CEU Executive Online Master in International Sport Law’ and will be taught in English.
Rex Sport has previously combined with other academic institution on sports law courses but the new agreement marks a departure from their previous academic institution link-ups.
The new course is designed to provide students with the skills to develop a career in international sports law and is taught by practitioners in the field of international sports law, arbitrators from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and leading figures from sporting organizations such as FIFA, UEFA, WADA, CAS and the IOC.
Dean of the Faculty of Law at the CEU Cardinal Herrera University, Joaquín Marco, said: “By working with Rex Sport, we can offer a specific programme tailored to the needs of those who wish to further their careers at law firms specialising in sports law or at sporting organizations at national and international level across the world.”
The unique selling point of Rex involvement in sports law courses is that the lecturers are leading practitioners in the area and some of the biggest names in the sports law world. On previous courses a key attraction has been internships have generally been with Rex Sport members and their firms or organisations. The new course has opened a door to lawyers already with other firms but want to widen their knowledge base, qualifications and contacts.
Rex Sport member and Academic Director of the programme, Efraim Barak said: “At Rex Sport and Rex Sport Academy we are very proud to launch this new and improved Master Programme with the CEU Cardinal Herrera University… As we are the founders, designers and creators of the successful online Master Programme and are able to draw upon the wide expertise we possess, we can now offer a more extensive programme, including more material and in-person meetings at which it will be possible for the students to receive tutorials and to undertake practical training.”
