LA Galaxy support H20 Claro campaign to its core Hispanic communities

September 20 – MLS side LA Galaxy have linked with the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) to promote the charity’s ‘H20 Claro’ campaign to Hispanic communities in Los Angeles.

The campaign educates and encourages the health benefits of increased water consumption and is part of the wider ‘Drink Up’ campaign across the US and supported former US First Lady Michelle Obama.

Brokered by AEG Global Partnerships (AEG owns the LA Galaxy), PHA and The LA Galaxy Foundation, a number of grassroots and community events will be held throughout the 2017 MLS season.

The first of these initiatives included a community clinic presented by Drink Up in support of Homeboy Industries, the gang intervention, rehabilitation, and re-entry programme, and the Los Angeles Community.

Homeboy families and youth took part in free soccer training as well as health and nutrition programming. LA Galaxy midfielder Jaime Villarreal was on hand to present Homeboy Industries with a 30-person suite to watch the club play Toronto FC.

The Hispanic community in Los Angeles is a core supporter base for the LA Galaxy. Research shows that of those who saw PHA’s H2O Claro campaign, 76% said they increased their consumption of water.

“This is a natural extension of our relationship with the Partnership for a Healthier America, and we are proud to support initiatives like Drink Up that bring awareness to important issues like water consumption,” said Robert Vartan, senior director, Global Partnerships at AEG. “This is a terrific opportunity for both our fans and our team not only to share in their passion for soccer but also to help spread the message to make water consumption a way of life in our communities.”
