October 3 – Seven matches into the Premier League season sponsors are still mopping up the newly created sleeve sponsorship positions on club shirts with Burnley being the latest to announce the ‘Golf Clash’ mobile game as their new partner.
Golf Clash, a Playdemic brand, is a free-to-download, real-time multi-player mobile phone game allowing users to compete in single-hole matches on golf courses from around the world. It has quickly become one of the Top 10 game apps in the UK.
It is the second gaming app to take a Premier League sleeve position, following on from the Angry Birds buy of the Everton sleeve position.
The Gold Clash deal is for one year only and was negotiated by Sportquake. No value was put on the sponsorship.
As part of the sponsorship, Playdemic work with Burnley to create a number of fan experiences, including the opportunity to take on the first team and fellow supporters at ‘Golf Clash’.
Anthony Fairclough, commercial director of Burnley FC, said: “We are delighted to announce the partnership with Golf Clash; it’s a great, fun game which you can play on iOS and android devices and compete with friends and we at the club are thrilled to lead the Golf Clash revolution.
“I know the squad love the game and we are looking forward to working with the guys at Playdemic to create some fantastic opportunities for our fans.”
