Champagne moment for FIFA as limited-edition bottle launched by Taittinger

By David Owen

December 7 – It may come as a bit of a kick in the teeth to Russia’s sparkling wine industry, but Taittinger has just launched a limited-edition 2018 World Cup souvenir bottle of its highly-regarded Brut Réserve NV champagne.

The French company last year signed up for four more years as a FIFA sponsor, giving it Official Champagne status at both Russia 2018 and the 2019 Women’s World Cup in, yes, France.

The new souvenir bottle bears a silver label and features an image of the World Cup trophy on its neck label. It comes in a blue and silver box with, intriguingly, a “cosmic design” reflecting Russia’s achievements in space.

“We, the Taittinger family, are extremely proud to continue our adventure with FIFA,” said Clovis Taittinger, general manager of the champagne house, which can trace its origins back to 1734. “We are very thankful for FIFA’s confidence in our House and products,” Taittinger continued. “We look forward to a long and passionate connection between our two institutions.”
