February 28 – Spanish giant Real Madrid has launched its own 360° and virtual reality channel in The Dream VR app that has more than 2 million downloads in over 180 countries.
The Dream VR is the world’s largest virtual reality network, Real Madrid are the first football club in the world to have a virtual reality channel.
The club will release VR content monthly on the channel which it says will give “a first-hand insight into the Real Madrid experience, which to date has been available to very limited number of fans.”
The app is free to download on mobile devices (iOS and Android) and television, as well as via virtual reality platforms including Samsung Smart TV, Apple TV, iOS, Android, Google Daydream, Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear, HTC Vive, Topying and Pico.
Football clubs are slowly starting to explore the possibilities of augmented and virtual reality and the Real Madrid agreement with The Dream VR potentially marks a step change for the format in terms of providing truly immersive content to fans globally.
