Challenging stereotypes: Barca’s women’s team tooled up with Stanley Black & Decker

March 8 – Championing equality in all forms of life, workperson’s tools and security brand Stanley Black & Decker have announced they have extended their sponsorship of FC Barcelona, adding the club’s Women’s team to its sponsorship portfolio.

Stanley is already in its fourth season as the club’s ‘Official Tools’ Partner. Starting with the 2014/15 season, that sponsorship has been activated globally across digital, marketing and merchandising activations, as well as via access to Barça events and experiences.

Barca’s women’s team has become a leading force in Spanish football over the past couple of seasons and the club says they “are challenging stereotypes and setting an example for young girls who aspire to be successful athletes – whether on the school playing field or at professional club level.”

Mike Simpson, CMO, Global Marketing, Stanley Black & Decker, said: “We’re extremely proud to announce this global partnership. The FC Barcelona Femení team is breaking new ground and changing perceptions every day, promoting diversity and respect. We feel honored to support such an inspiring team in their rising success.”

Stanley’s sponsorship will invest in bringing fans closer to the Barça Women’s squad with exclusive content that will be distributed live across digital platforms and be promoted on FCB Femeni (FCB Women) and Stanley’s social media channels.

Xavier Asensi, FC Barcelona commercial director, said: “Expanding our partnership to the FCB Femeni team feels like the right next step for the club and STANLEY, a brand that shares our core values of effort, ambition and respect, among others, to support a diverse world where everyone is empowered to reach their full potential.”
