Russian Cup launch gives gamers chance to qualify for FIFA eWorld Cup 2018

May 10 – Russia will have its own round of the EA Sports FIFA 18 Global Series with VY Esports having struck a deal to for the Russian Interactive Football Cup to become an official qualifying competition.

The partnership with Electronic Arts and as a sponsorship activation with Coca-Cola, VY Esports will create branded content around the Russian Cup that will include player stories, game highlights, and recap shows.

The first stage will consist of a series of online and offline qualifying events with eSports players signed to Russian professional football clubs invited to play in the first round. 64 players will advance to the final tournament which will be held in May at Yota Arena, one of the world’s largest esports venues in Moscow.

The FIFA World Cup proper kicks off June 14. VY Esports has partnered with the Russian Esports Federation (RESF), and the Football Union of Russia (RFU) for its event.

The EA Sports FIFA 18 Global Series is a multi-tiered worldwide competition with the qualifying round winners going through to compete in the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs and then on to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018 Grand Final in August.
