Swedish fans chip in with tactical tips on Andersson’s walk to work

May 10 – At last, a FIFA World Cup story that is not about corruption. Sweden’s football fans are being given the opportunity to help national team manager Janne Andersson with his tactics for Russia 2018.

Andersson often walks the 12km from his home to his office where he his plotting the Swedish assault on the biggest prize in world football (a prize sometimes reckoned to be even bigger than the FIFA presidency, well almost).

Along his route Andersson now has to pass a series of digital screens installed along the whole journey by Swedish betting company Svenska Spel. On these screens Swedish fans’ tips are being streamed live.

The screens are updated live via the website www.jannewalk.se.

It seems that crowdsourcing the wisdom of the people for Sweden’s World Cup tactics is not being ignored by Andersson, frankly it would be hard to with the number of screens on his route and the length of time it takes to walk to his office.

“I walk the 12 kilometres to work quite often. That gives me two important hours in which I have peace and quiet to think and process thoughts about the national team’s activities. I know there are plenty of ‘national team coaches’ all over Sweden. I have major respect for that and think it’s great that people get involved and have their views. And they are more than welcome to send me their tips,” said Andersson.

Rumours are that bookmakers Paddy Power Betfair, who famously funded their own candidate David Ginola for a run at the FIFA presidency, are currently trying to find the route to work of Gianni Infantino and help him through the pickle of his own presidential election tactics in play for next year, though it is unclear whether digital billboards can be installed on the route his private jet takes.
