June 3 – FIFA will return to London for the third edition of their Best Awards in September. Nominations will be released July 23, after the World Cup final in Russia, with public voting open until August 10.
Fan voting will make up 25% of the final result, with 25% being made up of national team captain choices, 25% from the picks of the head coaches of national teams, and 25% being selected by a group of more than 200 media representatives.
Ten nominees will be released for the categories of Best Women’s Coach, Best Men’s Coach, Best Men’s Player, and Best Women’s Player. The final three will be announced in September.
“As a passionate football city in a nation with a strong footballing heritage, London will once again prove to be an excellent destination to host The Best FIFA Football Awards, and we are excited to return after the success of last year’s second edition. With the 2018 FIFA World Cup showcasing football’s finest across Russia this summer, there is everything to play for, making this year’s awards a truly exceptional occasion,” said FIFA Deputy Secretary General (Football) Zvonimir Boban.
Other category awards will be for Best Goalkeeper, The FIFA Puskás Award, The FIFA Fair Play Award, The FIFA Fan Award, and the FIFA FIFPro World11.
