Manic Maradona’s medical scare over as he jets to Moscow saying all is fine

June 27 – Argentina legend Diego Maradona said he was “fine” after being treated by paramedics following his country’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Nigeria at the World Cup.

The 57-year-old could be seen being helped from his seat at the St Petersburg Stadium, before collapsing into a chair inside the stadium. He was immediately attended to by Russian paramedics and was pictured in the early hours of this morning on a private jet destined for Moscow.

“I want to tell everyone that I am fine,” he wrote on Instagram. “I was checked by a doctor and he recommended me to go home before the second half, but I wanted to stay because we were risking it all. How could I leave?”

Maradona, who had been close to tears when the score was 1-1, manically celebrated Marcos Rojo’s late winner that saved Argentina from elimination but was also seen swearing at supporters by raising one-finger gestures on both hands in their direction.

Earlier in the tournament he was accused of making racist gestures at young South Korean fans when Argentina played Iceland.
