August 7 – Paris Saint-Germain are set to ditch Emirates as their shirt sponsor at the end of the upcoming season.
The club has displayed the Dubai-based airline’s logo since 2006 with the company reportedly paying between €25 and €30 million annually for the privilege.
According to L’Equipe, Qatar-owned PSG want that increased to a whopping €80m but have not had such demands met.
The paper says PSG have already began the hunt for a new deal, with an Asian company in insurance or electronics a possibility.
Although l’Equipe doesn’t say as much, it would be no surprise if the decision to part company also had something to do with the geo-political situation in the Gulf region with the United Arab Emirates supporting the ongoing Saudi-led trade and diplomatic split with Qatar.
