September 13 – UEFA has renewed FedEx Express as an official sponsor of the UEFA Europa League in a new three-year deal.
The current FedEx Express sponsorship will continue unbroken into the 2018/19 season and run through to the Europa League Final in 2021.
FedEx first signed on with the Europa League in 2015 and has activated its sponsorship via player data insights in the FedEx Performance Zone on UEFA.com, the Player Mascot programme on matchdays; and building pitches across the world as a part of the global FedEx Cares CSR initiative with support from UEFA Foundation for Children.
UEFA said the “the next three Europa League seasons will allow these programmes to develop and grow to give even more to fans of the competition.”
Brenda McWilliams Piatek, vice president of marketing operations, at FedEx Express Europe, said: “Football demonstrates time and time again, an impressive capability to unite people, each bringing different life experiences and coming from diverse backgrounds, countries and cultures, and finding common ground through sport. By continuing to sponsor and expand its support for football, FedEx Express is demonstrating its belief in the sport as a platform for possibilities.”
FedEx Express is the sixth official partner of the Europa League for the 2018-21 commercial cycle, following the renewals of Amstel, Hankook Tires and Enterprise-Rent-A-Car. Kia Motors and Molten have become an official sponsor and official supplier to the competition respectively.
TEAM Marketing have focussed on building the commercial proposition for the Europa League and which champions itself as the world’s largest professional club football competition with clubs from 55 countries competing and a global cumulative TV audience of 980 million.
