Bayern target Latin America with Spanish-language online shop

November 5 – Bayern Munich has taken a deeper step into the Spanish-speaking Latin American market with the launch of a Spanish language online shop.

The online shop, which will mirror its German and English online retail, offers more than 1,200 products ranging from home goods to the latest kits. Services, including digital jersey customization. Purchases will be delivered within four working days from Germany via DHL.

“We have over 130 million followers in the Americas alone and over two thirds of them are native Spanish speakers,” said Bayern Munich’s President of the Americas, Rudolf Vidal. “Last year’s fan survey in the Americas showed that over half of the respondents felt it was important to have language specific websites and social media. We’ve responded by putting more resource behind Spanish language content and launching the Spanish online shop.”

Bayern has official fan clubs in 14 different countries in Latin America with the Guadalajara, Mexico, fan club being the largest in the world outside of Germany. The club also has more than 11 million social media followers in the region.

The club reckons it has 652 million followers worldwide and has pushed its brand internationally with the opening of a New York based office in 2014 to service North and South America. In 2017 a fan survey saw more than 20,000 fans respond, commenting on the club’s presence in the Americas.

Bayern is also focussed on expansion in China having opened an office in March 2017 in Shanghai.
