Mbappé leapfrogs Kane to become most valuable player in the world

November 6 – The transfer value of French and PSG star Kylian Mbappé just keeps on rising, having now overtaken Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and his Brazilian club mate, the most expensive player in the planet, Neymar.

In October Mbappé’s transfer value increased by €23 million, according to CIES Football Observatory statistics. At €216.5 million he is almost €20 million ahead of Kane. Kane is followed by Neymar and Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah and Philippe Coutinho, now Barcelona’s most valuable player.

The CIES stats show fast reducing but still significant transfer values for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at €170.6 million and €123.6 million.

The data looks at the top ten players across each of five playing positions. Of the 50mplayers ranked, 31 play at English Premier League clubs.

Significiant in the rankings is the presence of youth. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold tops the full backs category at €96.4 million, while Tottenham’s Delle Alli tops the midfield category at €163.4 million.
