November 13 – Former French international Samir Nasri, who was banned for a doping offense for 18 months, is poised to be given a controversial route back into the game by joining Premier League West Ham.
Reports say Nasri will undergo a medical ahead of signing a six-month deal to start in January, re-uniting him with Manuel Pellegrini, the West Ham manager for whom he played for at City and where he won two Premier League titles.
Nasri, who has also played for Arsenal, was suspended from playing after breaking the rules by having an intravenous drip treatment at a clinic in Los Angeles while on holiday in December 2016.
At the time he was on loan at Sevilla, prompting Spanish anti-doping authorities to open an investigation. He retroactively appealed to UEFA to grant him a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) but his request was refused
Nasri, was an important part of Pellegrini’s Premier League-winning team of 2014 at City. His contract with his most recent club, Turkey’s Antalyaspor, was mutually terminated last January. The 31-year-old would not be eligible to play until the New Year but is permitted to train with any club from this month.
