December 12 – Christian Seifert (pictured), CEO of the Bundesliga, is the new Chairman of the World Leagues Forum, appointed at the organisation’s annual meeting in Mexico City in succession to Richard Scudamore.
“My priority will be to preserve the necessary space in the calendar to allow our leagues and their clubs to develop their national competitions”, said Seifert.
The WLF again reiterated its opposition to FIFA’s plans to revamp the Club World Cup and a global Nations League since “they would usurp the calendar for international competitions to the disadvantage of all national leagues.”
But the leagues welcomed the decision made by the FIFA Council on October 14 to endorse a package of measures that included a ceiling on player loans.
