January 10 – The Iraq national team broke an unwanted record when they posted their first group game victory over counterpart Vietnam in Group D.
Iraq conceded the first goal before battling back to take a narrow 3-2 win.
According to #mundial11, Iraq had previously conceded a goal first in 15 out of their previous 35 games in the Asian Cup, but never once managed to comeback with a victory, losing 13 times and drawing twice.
That all changed with the Vietnam encounter. They have now conceded a goal-first in 16 matches, won 1, lost 13, drawn 2.
